Lyndsy was born and raised in Port Moody, British Columbia, the traditional and unceded territories of the Kwikwetlem, Musqueam, Squamish Stó:lō and Tsleil-Waututh First Nations. Since 2019, Lyndsy has lived in Fort McMurray on Treaty 8 Territory. Lyndsy’s commitment to truth and reconciliation involves a dedicated effort to uncover and acknowledge past injustices and wrongdoings, while fostering dialogue and understanding to heal and rebuild relationships. Lyndsy understands this work involves confronting difficult truths, addressing systemic issues, and promoting mutual respect and healing.
Lyndsy received her Bachelor of Science in Psychiatric Nursing from Douglas College in 2017. Since graduating, Lyndsy has worked in Vancouver, Prince George, and Fort McMurray. Lyndsy has provided mental health care in acute settings, including child, adolescent, and adult inpatient psychiatry units and emergency departments. Lyndsy has also worked within community mental health, adolescent and adult addiction treatment programs, and provided virtual mental health therapy to active members of the Canadian Armed Forces.
The foundation of Lyndsy’s practice is holistic. She understands that one’s development, physical health, emotional health, socioeconomic status, culture, and spirituality shape one’s experience of mental health and recovery. She has received training in crisis intervention, supportive counselling, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), motivational interviewing (MI) and mindfulness.
Lyndsy is committed to practicing through a trauma informed lens. She is skilled in treating anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts, psychotic disorders, personality disorders, ADHD, and trauma. Lyndsy offers in-person and virtual therapy services to teens and adults throughout Fort McMurray and the greater Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo. She is especially passionate about providing compassionate and holistic mental health care to Indigenous peoples.
